Heritage Pork Starter Package (30 pounds) 

Our heritage pork starter package is available in 30 lb. and 60 lb. boxes of meat. It not only offers a great selection of cuts, including chops, shoulder butt steaks, ribs, cutlets, cured bacon, jowl bacon, sausage, and ground pork. It gives you a chance to try our different breeds available and you SAVE 15-20% by purchasing a bulk box.

They have access to forage, dirt to root and bask in the sunlight. They are fed a custom feed designed for the Ossabaw Island Hog breed; our feed is always soy-free and sourced with local grains whenever possible.Since our pigs are heritage breeds, their growth times are significantly longer than commercialized ones. With this, the fat is slowly marbled through the meat, which creates pork that self bastes as it cooks—one word for you – Incomparable.

The pig breeds we raise are all known for their table-quality meat. Our heritage breeds include English Large Black, Ossabaw Island Hogs, Meishans, Mangalitsa and Red Wattle.

Our pigs are processed at a local, provincially (Alberta) inspected abattoir. In doing so, we can offer you the best cuts and custom choices of Ossabaw Island Hog pork.

How do the animals live?

Hogs & Horns Homestead raises all of our animals’ hormone and steroid free. In doing so, we can raise them in an outdoor pasture setting, which allows them to live a stress-free life with plenty of exercise, fresh air, sunshine, pasture, and the ability to forage.

Our Swine’s Diet

Provided access to Alberta’s natural weeds, grasses, and foliage.  They receive high-quality, custom-made, soy-free, CFIA-approved feed specialized for each specific breed. Providing all the nutrients they need as animals and providing an excellent end product.
